Our Story

 

River Town Adventures opened in 2014, along the Grand River in downtown Lansing, as a full service livery and boat shuttle service with the goal of giving people an opportunity to explore the two beautiful rivers the Capital City area has to offer.

River Town Adventures aims to provide you with a fun and adventurous time experiencing our local waterways. Whether you are looking to add excitement to your active lifestyle, are in need of a relaxing time on the water, want to see nature and wildlife from a unique perspective, or simply want to experience something new in our great city, we have an adventure for you!!

 

Michigan's longest river is the Grand River. Flowing over 252 miles, it begins south of Jackson and flows north to Lansing where it makes a westward turn eventually emptying into Lake Michigan.  River Town Adventures offers trips on the Grand River from as far south as Dimondale continuing all the way west to Grand Ledge.  

The winding Red Cedar river is 45 miles long. Its headwaters begin near Webberville. It flows through the communities of Williamston, Okemos and of course through the campus of Michigan State University (GO GREEN!) before emptying into the Grand River at the confluence, near downtown Lansing.  We offer trips on the Red Cedar from Okemos, all the way down-stream past the confluence to our hub in the heart of downtown Lansing.  We are adding new adventures almost every season and you can now explore the Portland State Game area on the Grand River and also experience some stretches of the Looking Glass River! We feel we have a responsibility to care for our local waterways and parks. River Town Adventures is proud to participate and organize many river clean-ups every season. Our goal is to see the Red Cedar and Grand rivers become cleaner every year.
